Devo for 03/23/2025 service- Message by Pastor Jamey Santo
This past Sunday, Pastor Jamey took us into week 3 of the “Seeds” series and began by speaking on faith and how important it is to keep faith. He encouraged us to always put action to our faith, as James pointed out in chapter 2, verse 17, “faith without works is dead”
While listening to his teaching, it came to my mind that, although we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory, we are saved by His grace that He freely gives us, if we will simply receive it by faith.
Now, I know that this is not a great revelation for Christians, we hear the line “saved by grace” a lot. We know grace is unmerited favor; in other words, we get something we do not deserve.
I found myself thinking about the times God has given me grace when I really did not deserve it:
He forgave me for sins
He accepted me back when I turned my back on Him and tried to do it my way
He accepted my repentance over and over again
He stood with me even when my faith was weak
Then I began to wonder if I take His grace for granted? Do I have trouble receiving His Grace? Or do I even think about it?
As specific instances came to mind, I thought for this week's devo I would challenge us all to look back at the times God has given us grace when we did not deserve it. I realized doing this is a way to grow in our faith by remembering what He has done for us.
So, I encourage you to take some time and think about times God rewarded you with grace when you missed the mark. I would also suggest you make a list and add to it as He brings them to mind. Then, praise Him and walk in the glory He gives us!
The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. John 17:22-23.
Finally, if this is hard for you to do, if you find yourself feeling unworthy of His grace, humble yourself and ask Father why. You might find freedom in a lot of areas if you can get to the root of why you struggle to receive His Grace. And it will improve your FAITH!
Don’t forget to invite God into your day!
