Devo for 07/28/2024 service- Message by Jacob Lierz

Pastor Jacob delivered a very powerful message this past weekend. It struck at the core of an issue I think we all struggle with.  “Secret Sin”.

As men of God, we want to walk in a way that will not be judged. The thought behind this is good; however, it makes it easy to buy into the lies that, as Christians, we have to perform a certain way. This can lead to being less than truthful when the question arises, “How are you doing?”  We may find ourselves listening to our flesh and saying, “I’m doing fine.”

Now I am not saying we should start spitting out everything we are struggling with, or everything we have done just because somebody asked how we are doing.  I am saying that when we get the feeling someone may find out that we have junk in our lives, we should take the opportunity to get away with Father and ask Him.   A great way to ask is to pray these verses from Psalm 139:23-24 - Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

After praying that He reveals things, embrace the opportunity to let Him lead you through forgiveness, healing, repentance, growth, or whatever He deems.  Remember, although it may be hard to face our junk, it will always be better than keeping it hidden!  This is the key to walking in Freedom!!!

Proverbs 28:13 tells us “Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”

Finally remember this: You are forgiven, You are remarkable, and You have what it takes!

Don’t forget to invite God into your day!
